How to setup e-mail on the Motorola DROID

The settings are slightly different on the "Incredible" but the concepts are basically the same.)

Android-based smartphones include two e-mail clients, one for Gmail and one for other types of e-mail servers including Micro$oft Exchange, IMAP4 and POP3. The following guide will show you how to set up the built-in e-mail application to access an OfficeLogic InterChange email server for incoming e-mail and outbound e-mail.

  • Tap the upward pointing arrow to get to the app menu (figure 1) if you do not have the Email icon on your home screen.
  • Tap on the Email icon. (figure 1)

If this is the first account then you will be presented with the Email config wizard. (figure 2)

Incoming server settings

  • Enter your OfficeLogic Username, OfficeLogic Password, InterChange Mail server (mail.thecompany.com, etc) and Port (default 143) (figure 4) . Contact your E-mail Administrator if you are unsure of these settings. Note: the server will almost always be wrong when this dialog box comes up so it will need to be corrected.
  • Click on Security type; a new window will pop up and allow you to select the level of encryption. We recommend that you select "TLS (Accept all certificates" (figure 5)
  • Once the Security type has been selected the pop up window will close and you can continue to the next step.

  • OfficeLogic InterChange requires you to login so check the box next to Require sign-in, enter your OfficeLogic username and password, and tap the Next button.
